So once again in the server today it was brought up (alleged) that a player was
'camping the pad' with a chopper. Surprisingly this is not a new phenomenon and the need to discuss what defines 'Camping a pad' and what the alleged 'camper' should do so the chopper feeling 'camped' may lift off with confidence.
When trying to cap the flag at Main Entrance and a player spawns and jumps in the chopper on the pad what should I or someone in this position do? I hope we can get some feedback on this soon.
Today as an example I left Main altogether and flew to the other side of the large cooling towers towards Reactors. Unfortunately, two jets on the other team were there and I pulled up alongside a cooling tower for cover. As one of the jets began attacking me I started to fly around the tower real close for protection. Now I was in between both cooling towers and saw that the chopper had lifted off and was Flying between the flag building and the construction building. I rolled back around the tower in the opposite direction as the jet had passed. From the Warehouse side of the cooling tower I fired on the chopper and destroyed it. Soon after I was accused of pad-camping. I felt that was an unfair accusation. I think I did the right thing leaving Main altogether and right away. That incident lead to this post.
As a 'victim' of pad camping the tactic I frequently use is the "stay-put" or 'don't lift-off" philosophy. When it is just myself and few other players this works pretty well. I don't lift off until I know the 'camper' has left the area or become distracted by something else. When the server is populated the disadvantage can be a ground-pounder rolling up on me in a tank or APC or even in an FAV loaded with C-4. Bottom line is....I choose when I lift-off and make myself a target."Some days your the windshield, some days your the bug".
I don't know why the font size changes or how to fix it...Sorry!
